Short Early Morning Meditations

Quiet Time

On June 6, 2016, I started a Facebook Group Page just for the members of the Sunday Team of our church.

And beginning on the 8th, I started posting short early morning meditations regarding a bible reading for that day.

Below is a collection of these postings for the month of June.

June 8, 2016

"The one who guards his mouth [thinking before he speaks] protects his life;
The one who opens his lips wide [and chatters without thinking] comes to ruin."
Prov 13:3 AMP

June 10, 2016

"Use your heads as you live and work among outsiders. Don’t miss a trick. Make the most of every opportunity. Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out".
Col 4:5-6 MSG

The Word of God is living and active and is able, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit; joints and marrow. Its meant to touch us deep in our inner most core. And when we allow it, it changes us from the inside out and we become like Him, whom we serve.

'So this is my prayer: that your love will flourish and that you will not only love much but well. Learn to love appropriately. You need to use your head and test your feelings so that your love is sincere and intelligent, not sentimental gush. Live a lover’s life, circumspect and exemplary, a life Jesus will be proud of: bountiful in fruits from the soul, making Jesus Christ attractive to all, getting everyone involved in the glory and praise of God."
Philippians 1:9-11 (MSG)

Even if we don't believe it, once others know that we are followers of Christ, they will look at how we live our lives -- oftentimes secretly, and most times trying to find fault. People who don't know Jesus will get a glimpse of who He is by what they see in us, at our best but also in our lows. It's not easy being a Christian, but it also is not hard if and when we use common sense and we let God's Word and Spirit guide us and lead us.

Worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
John 4:23-24

We worship our Father in heaven not just on Sundays and not just with singing, clapping or lifting our hands.
But rather we worship Him daily and minute by minute in everything we think, say and do, and also in the things that we don't do.
The Holy Spirit should be our ever present help, let us allow Him to really guide us with our daily faith walk. Now that's worshipping in spirit and in truth.

Psalm 91:15 says
"He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him."

While Psalm 27:14 tells us to
"Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord."

This just tells us that God answers us in different ways. If He is our Lord, we can trust Him in any and all circumstances, and whether the answer we get is yes, or no, or wait we know He is in control.

So let us go boldly to Him with reverence and respect and remember that He has our back, and will lead us through no matter what our current situation looks like.

Call upon Him today and everyday, Jeremiah 33:3.

June 23, 2016

"So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?"
Romans 8:31

I know certain situations we are in can be so overwhelming, but when we keep our eyes on Jesus, then we can be sure that if He did what He did for us, how much more is He going to do what needs to be done in our present situation -- whatever it may be.

I don't know about you, but I do believe this is the right time for a praise break, let's stop everything right now, particularly the worrying and other worthless actions we do and attitudes we have, and just pause and praise Him... Alleluia, Hosanna in the highest!

June 27, 2016

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes."
Matthew 6:34

When we keep on reading the Word of God, the Lord continually opens up new things to reveal to us even if we have already read the same chapter dozens of times.

Matthew 6:33 is a memory verse but verse 34 should be there along side it.

Lately, I've been reading verses in the MSG version and the Holy Spirit's been opening up new revelations for me. As a servant of the Lord and a Sunday Team member, we need a different kind of feeding from Sunday attendees. Today when you have the time, in your quiet/fasting time, can you read Matthew 6 in the MSG version and see what new things the Lord will reveal to you. You can click on the link.

June 28, 2016

"My dear children, let’s not just talk about love; let’s practice real love. This is the only way we’ll know we’re living truly, living in God’s reality. It’s also the way to shut down debilitating self-criticism, even when there is something to it. For God is greater than our worried hearts and knows more about us than we do ourselves."
1 John 3:18-20

We are able to love others because God loved us first.
We are able to give out love with the love we have received from Him.

In the same way we can do everything else for Him and for others with the wisdom, the treasure and the talents He has given us.
He is our Alpha and our Omega.

The Story of the Dinner Party

That triggered a response from one of the guests: “How fortunate the one who gets to eat dinner in God’s kingdom!”

Jesus followed up. “Yes. For there was once a man who threw a great dinner party and invited many. When it was time for dinner, he sent out his servant to the invited guests, saying, ‘Come on in; the food’s on the table.’

“Then they all began to beg off, one after another making excuses. The first said,
‘I bought a piece of property and need to look it over. Send my regrets.’

“Another said, ‘I just bought five teams of oxen, and I really need to check them out. Send my regrets.’

“And yet another said, ‘I just got married and need to get home to my wife.’

“The servant went back and told the master what had happened. He was outraged and told the servant, ‘Quickly, get out into the city streets and alleys. Collect all who look like they need a square meal, all the misfits and homeless and wretched you can lay your hands on, and bring them here.’

“The servant reported back, ‘Master, I did what you commanded—and there’s still room.’

“The master said, ‘Then go to the country roads. Whoever you find, drag them in. I want my house full! Let me tell you, not one of those originally invited is going to get so much as a bite at my dinner party.’”
Luke 14:15-24

Our Lord invited many others before us, but they declined, giving reasons and excuses. But our God was gracious enough to extend the invitation to us (however unworthy we are), and that's how we got in. We should be reminded not to make the same mistakes the ones before us made. Jesus is calling to us everyday, let our response be Yes and Amen.

Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody.

Don’t hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you’ve got it in you, get along with everybody. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. “I’ll do the judging,” says God. “I’ll take care of it.”

Our Scriptures tell us that if you see your enemy hungry, go buy that person lunch, or if he’s thirsty, get him a drink. Your generosity will surprise him with goodness. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.
Romans 12:14-21 MSG

I believe the Message Version really grabs a hold of something inside me and keeps on pulling at it as if to ask, do you get it, do you get it...

I mean, its really hard not to be touched on your inner core, and be changed by the stirring of the Holy Spirit as He makes His Word come alive.

Yes the Word of God is living and active, as the Holy Spirit is, and both are working inside us daily. Let us allow them to do their job, as we do ours.

Don’t ever say, “I’ll get you for that!”
Wait for God; he’ll settle the score.
Proverbs 20:22 MSG
