Hebrews 4:12-13
God's Word is Living and Active
"For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable." (BSB)
I've lost count of how many times I've heard, read, meditated and spoken this verse. And we cannot really get enough truth and wisdom from it, if we allow it to.
I've heard preachers say that for some, their trinity can be expressed this way, 'God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Bible', and for believers without the 'power' of the Holy Spirit, then this is indeed true for them -- otherwise where else would they get their power for living from? Sadly, some so-called Christians are forbidden by their priests to read their bible on their own, and I'm not going to be surprised if our society will ban the book altogether in the near future.
Jesus, Himself used Scriptures to fight the enemy of our soul and to silence the worse kind of people He ever faced and whom He disliked the most -- the Pharisees. And believe me, those kinds, one cannot really keep from talking. I believe they just love showboating and theatrics so much.
But once Jesus used this double-sided weapon, the fast-talking tongues of the attention-seeking Pharisees were kept at bay. Nothing else could, not even the miracles He performed. They were so blinded and so full of themselves, they think they know everything about God but the sad truth was they couldn't even recognize Him even though He was right there in front of them, in the flesh.
I know, it's like that for us too, and our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak, but let us read Hebrews 4:12-13 again and ask the Lord for the passion to truly seek Him, to be really hungry to read about Him, to open up opportunities to meditate on His Word daily and to reveal fresh manna which we desperately need so that everything that is hidden from us and the things that are locked up and hidden in our hearts be revealed and we can finally understand why Jesus taught us to pray 'give us this day our daily bread', because we really do need it everyday.
