Sweet Talk

"Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body."  Proverbs 16:24 MSG

We, God's people ought to read a few proverbs, sing a little psalms and meditate on some gospel readings every now and then. But as leaders, we ought to add an epistle here and there and maybe an Old Testament story to our daily dietary needs.

The whole proverbs 16 is recommended feasting. And like any other chapter, we could enjoy it in different versions (flavors) so we get a fresh take on it all the more.

Honey and any sugary treat have always been a luxury throughout history and in every culture around the world, of course not so much now in the more affluent societies. But for many, it is like something they can only afford or partake in very special occasions and they cherish uncommon times like that.

The Promised Land has always been known as the "land of milk and honey" and thus it's people were used to the sweetness of honey. We too need to have as much "honey" as we can to our diet and to share to those around us, through our kind words.

So today, we can add another saying (and meme) tracing it's roots to the bible --if you do not have anything nice to say, say nothing at all. I mean, who knew almost everything has it's roots in the bible? If we read it everyday, then we can learn something new each day.
