Jesus’ Prayer of Thanksgiving
'At that time Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way!
“My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”' Matthew 11:25-27 (NLT)
Jesus was the first person to refer to God as 'Abba' -- Father, His Father -- our Father. And our Father in heaven found it wise to reveal the answers to the mysteries of life to His children.
God, in His infinite wisdom, revealed Himself as our Heavenly Father, both to be a loving Father to the fatherless and those who do not have good father figures. And also to symbolize all the outstanding human fathers around the world.
During His three and a half years of ministry as He walked among us on earth, Jesus personally talked about and shared His Father to everyone, revealing and showing the love of His Father to all who were willing to listen to Him. In fact, He said He and His Father are One, and it was unmistakenly revealed in His obedience to His Father and His unselfish act of sacrifice in Calvary. He also sent the Holy Spirit to be a constant Comforter, Advocate and Guide, to those of us who ask, as we live our lives here on earth and as we look forward to the second coming of Our Lord and Savior and our time to come home to our Heavenly Father -- the greatest homecoming ever.
Happy Father's Day to all fathers, to all our earthly fathers, as well as our Father in heaven who gives us good gifts daily and blessings we do not deserve. Thank you Father for your amazing grace which we cannot gain by our own works, yet you freely gave us through your only begotten Son.
"Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)
