In Person Or Online

In this post pandemic time, this is the present reality.

Church services are available through TV, radio, Youtube, Zoom, Facebook and other means.

And people are divided.

Yes, what else is new? As if there is a shortage of things to disagree with within and outside the Church.

One camp says people should be physically present with other believers.

Another camp says otherwise.

A splinter group thinks nothing about this or doesn't care one way or another.

Hebrews 10 say:

And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Yes let us not not avoid meeting and worshiping together. That's what the writer of Hebrews was exhorting the 1st century believers into doing.

In person was the only way possible back in those days.

Today? Yes we do have other means. This is not to say that they are viable options. But there are real and valid reasons why not being able to be physically present among the brethren inside a common area is possible.

Are we to deny people who are unable to come because they are in a hospital, in prison, sick or taking care of a sick loved one, have a communicable disease, have a disability, does not have a safe way to go, and so on?

This is the only question to ask. And the Holy Spirit can tell us the answer.

Shalom.
